Maidin! Come along for a sunny (then rainy!) day in Ireland. Count sheep on the farm, practice hurling and make a wish on a rainbow. Irish author Muireann Ní Chíobháin and illustrator Fuchsia MacAree draw on their personal experiences to create this sweet board book as part of the Our World series for very young readers. The illustrations by Fuchsia MacAree are gorgeous and colorful, and the hurling page gave my daughter endless questions. The rainy-then-sunny bit feels very true to the actual weather.

The illustrations of the rainy day compared to the sunny one are just gorgeous, my daughter keeps pointing at the rainbow page. Nice that an Irish author wrote it too, feels genuine.

The hurling page got my four-year-old swinging a stick around the living room for a solid hour. I like that it shows the rain too, not just the postcard version of Ireland. The rainbow wish at the end has become our bedtime ritual.
